COMPETITION Program

Confidence, Choreography, and a First Look at the Competitive Stage

Offered exclusively to dancers in our ELEVATE program (ages 8–11), the Competition class is a uniquely structured opportunity for young performers to explore the world of dance competitions in a supportive and age-appropriate setting.

Participation is by audition only, with selected dancers placed into a weekly class that combines training, choreography, and rehearsal in preparation for one annual competition, expected to take place in March 2026. This class is designed to be a self-contained experience—unlike traditional competition programs, no weekly outside rehearsals are required. Additional rehearsals may be added closer to the performance date to ensure confidence and readiness.

With a focus on teamwork, stage presence, and technical development, the Competition Class gives young dancers a chance to grow, perform, and celebrate their progress—all while gaining a fun and focused introduction to the competitive dance world.

Students should turn the minimum required age for class during the 2025 calendar year. Take a moment to review our dress code and other helpful information on our Policies & Resources page.

Class Overview

This audition-based class is open to ages 8–11 and will meet weekly and focus on the key elements of competition dance, including:

  • Sharp musicality and rhythm-based accents
  • Group synchronicity and dynamic transitions
  • Expressive facial performance and stage presence
  • Precision of shapes, lines, and technical clarity
  • Strong core technique in jazz, contemporary, and stylized movement

The class will culminate in participation at one off-site dance competition in the spring of 2026 (date to be announced). Dancers will learn and rehearse their competition routine during class time, meaning there will be no additional weekly rehearsals required. Only a few final polished rehearsals will be scheduled just before the competition event.
